Colombian band created by David Rivera in 1990.

After a while, David (Guitar player) got in touch with Daniel Builes (drums), Walter Tamayo (bass) and César Restrepo (vocals). In 1992, they released their demo called "Visiones del Horror" (Visions of Horror), a Death Metal act.

In 1993, Cesar left the band and was replaced by Mario "Manithou" Aponte.

In 1994 they released their first album called "El Vuelo de Las Almas" (Flight of Souls). Dora Vélez, female voice, and J.S. Ochoa -keyboards- began as new members. Tenebrarum's style
evolved with the addition of these new members. David has been playing the violin since he was 8 and used his skills with the instrument to give more melodic environment to the music. In December, 1994, Juan Carlos Henao joined the band on lead guitar.

In 1995, they recorded their second album "Blood and Tears". Dora and J.S. left the band at the end of that year.

In the mid 1996 the band released the 18 song, 70 minutes- long compilation called "Sol Negro" (Black Sun), that included first album, demo and unreleased live tracks. A couple of months later Daniel left the band. Andrés Meza filled the empty place.

In July 1997, Mario left the band. The members decided to change the voice style (Mario is high- tuned black metal style) for Tenebrarum. After an intense search, they found César Vásquez, baritone. With this line up, the band released their fourth album "Divine War" (August 1997). The gutural parts were made by Juan Carlos. Tenebrarum showed great evolution in this work. Besides the music, the CD contains a multimedia track making the band the first colombian rock act and one of the few Latinamerican with this technology.

Walter and Andrés left the band in 1998. David recruited his own brother, Julian Rivera as a bassist and after trying a couple of drummers, Jorge Mejía filled the position. Tenebrarum played at the 1998´s "Rock al Parque" version in front of more than 50.000 spectators with great acceptation. After that, César agreed to leave the band. Juan Carlos was responsible for singing and playing guitars.

In 2000, to conmemorate their 10th anniversary, the band signed with Transilvania Music and released an album on vinyl fomat called "X". The album has 6 remakes of old songs and 2 new. Here, the band shows its flexibility and capacity of adaptation to the changes of time with fresh and real music without losing the strength that has characterized Tenebrarum throughout the years. The fusion of hard rock and violin, an instrument that has been used traditionally in other styles, gave the band a personal label.

In Junuary 2001, Jorge left the band. Drummer David Guerrero was called. In May they they returned to the studio and recorded their sixth album "Voices", which contains 11 tracks. For the album, a Chamber Orchestra, percussion and two female backing vocals were used. The album was mastered at Sterling Sound (NYC) by George Marino (Metallica, Guns'n'Roses, Aerosmith, etc.).
